[Overview]
Flame retardant H8914 is a high-phosphorus organic cyclic phosphonate flame retardant. It is suitable for various fabrics such as nylon, polypropylene, and polyester that require durable flame retardancy, and is particularly suitable for treating pure polyester fabrics that must resist washing and dry cleaning. Fabrics treated with flame retardant H8914 possess excellent hand feel and drape, and the finished products do not exhibit blooming.
[Physical and Chemical Properties]
Phosphorus content (wt%): 20.5
Appearance: Clear liquid
Refractive index (25°C): 1.48
[Preparation of Padding Solution]
1. Flame retardant H8914 is typically applied through a process involving padding, drying, heat setting, and rinsing.
2. Dissolve a sufficient amount of flame retardant H8914 in water so that the fabric absorbs 3–6% of its weight in H8914, ensuring that the final amount of H8914 retained on the fabric is at least 1.4% of the fabric’s weight.
3. Adjust the solution’s pH to 6.4–6.5 with sodium hydrogen phosphate or sodium carbonate.
4. Add 1.0–3.0 g/L of wetting agent according to requirements.
5. Dyebath solution can be stored for at least 7 days at room temperature.
[Processing]
1. Remove all residual sizing, oil stains, and other finishing agents from the fabric.
2. Dip-dye to achieve 40–60% wet weight gain. The fabric should be immersed for an extended period to ensure complete wetting and penetration. The solution temperature should be 15–25°C.
3. Use a hot-air tunnel or cylinder dryer to dry the fabric at a temperature of 110–135°C.
4. Heat-set for 1–2 minutes at 185–205°C. Woven fabrics should be heat-set at 195–205°C, while knitted fabrics should be heat-set at 185–195°C.
5. Rinse the entire fabric with cold water to remove all surface chemicals that may affect the hand feel, then dry. The duration and temperature of heat setting depend on the fabric’s structure and the temperature of previous processing steps.
[Packaging, Storage, and Transportation]
1. Packaging: Packaged in plastic drums, net weight 120 kg per drum.
2. Storage: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area in a sealed container. Shelf life: 12 months.
